Wherever
you go in Devon you will always be assured of a very warm welcome from
the locals. The more relaxed pace of life in the West Country is immediately
obvious in shops, pubs, and tourist attractions. People have more time
to talk to you down here, and it's a real joy, so make the most of it!
Below
are some suggestions of places to visit in our local area where you
will discover the "chocolate box" thatched cottages and
cream teas for which Devon is famous. Don't miss out on a visit to
Ottery St Mary, the birthplace of one of England's most famous poets,
Samuel T Coleridge. And for the energetic, why not follow the coastal
path from Branscombe to Beer and enjoy the stunning scenery. Also
within easy reach is the Regency town of Sidmouth, where the father
of the future Queen Victoria was holidaying when he died in 1820.
Today it is still a genteel English seaside town with beautiful regency
buildings and an outstanding coastline.
